The name I Made Mangku Pastika has become legendary within the Indonesian National Police Force. In 2003, Pastika was named “Asian Newsmaker of the Year” by Time magazine, for solving the October 12, 2002 Bali bombing case—which killed more than 180 people, most of whom were expatriates. Arrested by Pastika’s men were Bali bombers Amrozi, Ali Imron and Imam Samudra.
