IT has been two months since Irta Sumitra began work at the office of the Commission for Missing Persons & Victims of Violent Crimes (Kontras) at Cikini, Central Jakarta.

Sumitra is helping coordinate the cases of his fellow victims of the Tanjung Priok incident. At only Rp20,000 a day, Sumitra earns even less than a side-street vendor. Nevertheless, Sumitra is happy working for the commission, away from the sweet talk of outsiders attempting to s
