Police Dogged
Concerns have surfaced that the NPC cannot be independent. Critics argue that former police officers cannot objectively monitor existing officers and question the selection procedure which has almost been completed in record time.

LAST week, a seminar to discuss the National Police Commission was held at a prominent hotel on Jl. Thamrin in Jakarta. Organized by the Partnership for Governance Reform and the National Police Headquarters, the socialization meeting was held in order to introduce the concept to the public. Unfortunately, the seminar attracted only a very low turnout, comprising selection committee members and police officers.
