Newmont Under Fire (Again)
Negotiations to reach a settlement to the environmental pollution lawsuit filed by the government against Newmont have failed. Newmont claims that it will pursue international arbitration.

AFTER almost two months of attempted negotiations to reach out-of-court settlement to the lawsuit filed by the government against PT Newmont Minahasa Raya, it seems the case will ultimately return to the courts for a verdict. "Out-of-court negotiations failed," said Bambang Widjojanto, former chief of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation and member of the government's legal team.
