SOONER or later the words on the rice storage barn of Delanggu village will be just a memory. You only need to look at the irrigation water supply that stands at just a few inches. In the dry season, farmers have to rent water pumps at Rp6,000 an hour. My rice fields have now become dependent on rain water for irrigation, says 36-year-old Martono, a farmer from Kwarasan village in the Juwiring subdistrict of Klaten regency.
