Light Sanctions for ‘Code Breakers’
The Supreme Court grants the Judicial Commission’s recommendation that judges considered to have violated the code of ethics be punished. But the fate of other recommendations is unknown.

ARI Siswanto weakly walked out of the Wiryono courtroom in the Supreme Court building. On Tuesday a fortnight ago after making his defense in the Judge Honor Council’s hearing, this former judge of the Rantau Prapat District Court, North Sumatra, was unable to conceal his anxiety. His career as a judge was in danger of coming to an end. “I want to continue being a judge,” said the 37-year-old man sadly.
