The black fence was tightly closed. So was the door of the two-storey house at the Hasanuddin University lecturers complex in Makassar. Four cars wrapped in protective covers sat in a neat row in the garage. The only unrobed vehicle was a Kijang Innova in the house yard.

There were no signs of a just-concluded party, nor congratulatory bouquets when Tempo visited the house on Thursday last week. Something like that might have been expected: the
