Riau Police has dropped investigations into 15 companies accused of letting fires run rampant on concessions. At the environment ministry, investigations have made it to civil courts.

APPROXIMATELY 50 people thronged the entrance of the Riau Police headquarters on Monday last week. Waving a number of banners and posters, protesters castigated the police's decision to drop investigations into the source of Riau forest fires, urging police to reopen the cases.
