Members of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR) are evidently not above the law. Last Wednesday, January 9, the South Jakarta District Court convicted DPR National Awakening Party (PKB) member Chotibul Umam of slander. The court sentenced Chotibul to pay Rp500 million in compensation. In addition, the court ordered Chotibul to deliver an official public apology to Peoples Consultative Assembly (MPR) Deputy Speaker Ginandjar Kartasasm
