Justice Needed for Seized Lands
The Irian Jaya local government has begun paying out compensation for lands belonging to the Ohee tribe. But the first installment of Rp2 billion has not in fact gone to the Ohee.

THE living standards of the Ohee tribe in Irian Jaya surely ought to improve now that the tribe has been awarded Rp2 billion in compensation. Hanock Hebe Ohee, the chief of the Ohee tribe, will hopefully no longer have to live in his old house. The walls are made of rough wooden planks.
