Mobocraziness

Crowds taking the law in their own hands by mobbing criminal suspects to death are on the increase. Whether this is a sign of the public becoming increasingly brutal or the police being slow in taking action, is a moot point.

Observance of the law seems to have dropped to ground zero now. Mob actions are on the rise, often resulting in the death of people suspected of having committed a crime. In Tangerang alone, a regency that previously belonged to West Java Province but has now become a part of the newly created Banten Province, no fewer than 30 criminal suspects have been summarily executed by mobs in the past seven months.
