While the government is focused on restoring the national economy, Indonesia's natural resources continue to shrink. Every year, Indonesia loses about 2 million hectares of forest, causing Rp30.42 trillion (about US$3.04 billion) in losses to the state. Illegal timber smuggling accounts for half of these figures.
