Rachman's Last Stand

KPKPN has reported irregularities in the attorney general's declared wealth. Neither President Megawati nor the police have reacted so far.

The notices were one page each, but their contents may yet prove Attorney General Muhammad Abdul Rachman's premonition was correct.

On September 11, when first investigated by the Audit Commission on State Officials' Wealth (KPKPN), Rachman was shocked. Confronted with a photograph of a luxury home in Graha Cinere, he fell back. Rubbing his creased forehead, the attorney general said slowly: "This is the end."
