THE existence of judicial monitoring commissions is well-established in a number of democratic nations. However, the success of such a commission in Indonesia remains to be seen. In South Africa, the Judicial Service Commission not only monitors judicial conduct, but also makes recommendations for the dismissal of judges found guilty of misconduct. The commission also submits nominations for Supreme Court heads and Constitutional Court heads.
