Compared with Singapore, Indonesia is more democratic, but Singapore is more prosperous. Subversion laws (ISA) in this neighboring country have not yet been eliminated. Because of this, the people of Singapore have lost interest in participating in demonstrations, debates and criticism of the government.

Demonstrations, debates and government criticism are considered harmful to one’s self, since it is a waste of time, and time is money.
