Towards a Happy Golden Age

Life expectancy in Indonesia continues to rise. In Yogyakarta, people on average live to the age of 74, but in West Sulawesi it is only 64. There will be a great number of elderly people in Indonesia by 2035, for which the government may not be prepared to deal with.

There was good news on May 29, this year's National Day for the Elderly: Indonesians' life expectancy continues to rise. The five yearly survey by the National Statistics Agency in 2015 reported that Indonesians were living an average of 70.8 years. That figure will climb to 72.2 years by 2035.
