Helene van Klinken, author of Making Them Indonesian: Child Transfers Out of Indonesia, which was recently translated into Indonesian, documented a variety of stories of East Timorese children who were shipped to Indonesia between 1975 and 1999. Tempo spoke to three of them who were fortunate enough to reunite with their biological families after decades of separation.
