Hatta's Neglected Intellectual Monuments

A library is indeed the best institution to serve as a memorial for Bung Hatta's feats. But the fate of Hatta libraries in Yogyakarta as well as in Bukittinggi is worse than that of simple monuments.

Above the ravine at Bukittinggi life has never changed. The walls of the building, erected in the Minangkabau (West Sumatran) architectural style, is still moss-covered, the zinc roof has rusted and the garden is full of tall wild grass.
