THE heat overwhelmed Kahin when he arrived at Hanoi Airport, the afternoon of September 23, 1972. His first days in the capital city of the country were spent visiting churches and pagodas. On Sunday morning, when visiting a cathedral, Kahin was awestruck. He saw how peaceful the early morning mass was, attended by youths, accompanied by the soft choir and organin total contrast to the smell of war waiting at every corner of the city.
