IBU Kota Negara (IKN) Nusantara is a project to relocate Indonesia’s capital city from Jakarta to a planned city named Nusantara, in the East Kalimantan province of Borneo. It is a crucial undertaking, but it will be doomed to fail if it is built without the support of the nation’s collective capacity to dream. Building an ideal capital is an existential act. Not unlike the act of proclaiming independence.
