INDONESIA has had a cushion to maintain external economic stability: a trade surplus for 46 consecutive months, since April 2020. However, this cushion is diminishing. Indonesia’s external stability could be compromised. For ordinary people on the street, the visible impact of this phenomenon is the weakening of the rupiah exchange rate.
