Omar Dani was sent to America to train as a pilot and graduated among the top of his class. He was considered like an older brother by his friends.

THE hum of the Dakota DC-4 Mount Fairweather plane broke the silence of the Pacific Ocean. After taking off from Kemayoran Air Base in Jakarta the aircraft with its four piston engines flew for three days and two nights till it reached Bakersfield in the United States. In the aircraft sat 60 aviation cadets of the Indonesian Air Force, including Omar Dani.
