ONE noon in 1967, Col. Mulyono from Guntur Military Police Corp, Central Jakarta, gathered all Thomas Cup team members in an athlete’s flat at Senayan. In the building now already a shopping center, Plaza Senayan, the athletes whose names bore Chinese resemblance were subjected to rechristening. Col. Mulyono had prepared substitutes for the names.
