The Giant That Wouldn't Die
The repeated restructuring of its lineup influenced by conflicts, intrigue, and also narcotics were blows that could not kill God Bless. Approaching the age of 40, the oldest rock band in Indonesia is like a giant still standing strong and becoming a kind of 'ideal' for a number of bands which have followed. Prologue
ACHMAD Albar rarely stays at his house in the Cinere region of South Jakarta these days. He spends more of his time in his new home at the foot of Mt Salak, West Java. Once in a while he 'comes down the mountain' to visit his Cinere residence. This man with the frizzy afro is a dog lover. Several curly-haired poodles jumped about to welcome Tempo when we arrived on the terrace of his home.
