THE hum of Islamic religious song could not stifle discord in the National Awakening Party (PKB). After the congress in Semarang last week, a wound was laid wide open in one of the biggest parties in Indonesia. The PKB has followed three other major parties, namely Golkar, the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), and the United Development Party (PPP), which all split after their respective leadership election congresses.
