NINE am: Dressed smartly in polished shoes and neatly combed hair, 58 men prepare to be released. “Do we look OK, brother?” asks Abdullah, 23, sporting shoulder-length hair. Just a week ago they were prisoners at Jantho Prison in the Regency of Greater Aceh.

Midday Wednesday, August 31, and they are completely free. Official amnesty was granted by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono the day before, eradicating the Free Aceh Movement (GAM)
