Theft in the Inner Circle

Three laptop computers and a quantity of money went missing from the State Palace last week. Weak security and surveillance have been blamed.

FOUR guards stand continuously at the entrance to the Presidential Palace complex in Central Jakarta, immediately in front of the State Secretariat building. They are equipped with an X-ray machine and metal detectors to inspect people entering and leaving. No one is allowed to bring in sharp weapons, guns or other dangerous items. This is the first layer of security at the palace.
