Damages in Dispute

The central and regional governments are disputing the number of homes damaged by the Yogya quake. The difference could be in the criteria used.

IT has been two months since an earthquake rocked Yogyakarta and Central Java, but the damage it caused is still quite evident. Ruined homes are still noticeable alongside the road which connects the Pundong and Imogiri districts in Bantul, Yogyakarta. Victims of the quake are still living in emergency shelters made of woven bamboo walls, located at the sides of the roads.
