A Faith-Saving Protest
Followers of a local faith hold a thanksgiving ceremony following a grand harvest. This ritual is still viewed as cultural.

THE party at the Cigugur village was held for a week. There was a parade of 1,000 torch-carriers, various competitions and olden-day peoples games, Sundanese kecapi (four-stringed plucked zither) playing, blessing rituals and prayers for rice paddy seeds. At the end of the celebrations last Friday, a ritual called Seren Taun was held at the Paseban Tri Panca Tunggal Building.
