A Special, Forceful ‘No’

The US denies that it will reopen military cooperation with the Indonesian Army Special Forces, or Kopassus, citing violations of human rights as still the main issue.

THE straight road turns out to be winding. In the beginning of last March, there were reports that indicate the US army would improve relations with Kopassus. However two weeks ago the US embassy in Jakarta declared that in regards to normalization of ties with Kopassus, “The United States has not yet reached a decision.” In fact the US  still insists that the Indonesian government investigate the human rights violations�
