Indonesia's new ambassador to Australia, Sudjadnan Parnohadiningrat will be entertaining the usual quota of officials at his diplomatic table. But a certain Canberra schoolteacher will also be a welcome guest.

Nearly 30 years ago, Sudjadnan spent close to three months in Australia on an exchange program. His hosts included schoolteacher John Davenport, then living in the small rural town of Bungendore. "I feel like I've become a member of his f
