It was still morning when 50 soldiers entered the city of Solo (Surakarta). Wearing camouflage, green berets, and rucksacks, and armed with M16s, the soldiers arrived at Surakarta Police Headquarters in Central Java to work hand-in-hand with the police to guard Solo and its vicinity. "We are on a Level Two alert," said one police officer while explaining the arrival of his `big brothers', "in order to anticipate all possibilities."
