Public transport drivers parked their vehicles at the city terminal, unwilling to carry passengers to district areas and other regency towns. Consequently, the supply of basic needs came to a halt and prices rocketed. A liter of kerosene cost Rp3,500-Rp4,000 against only Rp1,900 previously. A coconut—earlier sold at Rp1,000—tripled in price to Rp3,000.
