Offers of a debt moratorium and other aid have flooded into Indonesia. Let’s hope that they deliver their promised assistance.

THE catastrophe has brought together people from all walks of life, as was evident at the international conference on the tsunami held in Jakarta, last Thursday. Regardless of race, complexion, or religion, the participants were speechless when an amateur film of the raging tsunami was played. After the screen went blank, they spoke in turn, pledging to assist the countries stricken by the tsunami.
