The dissolving of the DPA marks the end of a board that has come to be known as a last posting for retiring government officials.

THE leaves scattered on the ground in the courtyard of the Supreme Advisory Council (DPA) highlight one stage in a journey: in this case, it is life's end. Inside the building in one of the rooms, the DPA's deputy chair Ahmad Bagja, 56, is already packing. He is busy deciding which files to bring home and which will be left behind. In the following weeks, around 29 council members will leave, for one last time, this office beside the State Palace.
