To Cut or Not to Cut?
The DPR plans to reduce the present five-year term of office for governors, mayors, and regents by half. The government opposes the move.

GOVERNORS, mayors, regents and their respective deputies are all concerned these days. Currently they are entitled to five years of office by presidential decree. It seems that the House of Representatives (DPR) now wants that changed. As part of the change in the electoral system for regional administration chiefs, the politicians at Senayan have proposed that the length of service of those regional heads be cut by half.
