Public Inconvenience?

The Busway will soon be operational. But with virtually no public campaign to explain the new regulations involved, mayhem and macet are inevitable.

IN just one month the Jakarta government will unleash its controversial Busway system, or Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), in conjunction with an expanded 3-in-1 traffic policy. The project, which Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso has adopted from the equally congested Colombian city Bogota, aims to combat Jakarta's unforgiving traffic jams by streamlining a fleet of new air-conditioned buses into a corridor across the city.
