Greed, Violence and Shame

2003 revealed that we are still far from achieving peace and prosperity. We are, in fact, still mired in greed and violence.

It began with the government imposition of a six-month period of martial law in Aceh, to address the continuing security problem posed by the Free Aceh Movement separatists. Despite the resulting hundreds of victims, however, the military presence was extended for another half a year.
