Love's Laborer Lost

Noted Javanese cultural expert Karkono Kamajaya passed away last week. He bequeathed a priceless piece of his work: 4,000 translated pages of the Javanese classical manuscript Serat Centhini.

LIFE feels like something that is worth living if one goes through it like Karkono Kamajaya. He had been engaged in a series of professions—freedom fighter, journalist, politician, writer and a Javanese cultural expert. However, till his death, he was more noted as a person who was simple, honest, firm and full of integrity. His love for Javanese culture continued to burn until the last days of his life.
