On the Call to Prayer

The Egyptian government is seeking a solution to settle complaints about the calls to prayer over loudspeakers. This is something we should be emulating.

THE following story needs to be recounted in this country. Muhammad Ahmad, a resident of Cairo, Egypt, wrote a letter of protest to the local authorities. Essentially, he felt disturbed by the excessively loud calls to prayer (azan) from loudspeakers of mosques in the densely populated area where he lives.
