THE death of King Fahd and the accession of Crown Prince Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz to the throne has attracted the attention of the world. Abdullah has been the de facto day to day leader since 1985 when King Fahd, who ascended the throne in 1982, suffered a stroke. But now Abdullah, 83, is officially the top man in Saudi Arabia, the reformistsas they call themselvesseem to have the impression that there may be a ray of hope for democratization in
