Four government regulations give the Communications Minister considerable powers to regulate broadcasts. Is the media going back under government control?

THE impression that the government wants to regain control of the media is impossible to avoid with the recent issuance of four government regulations on broadcasting. And the impression will be reinforced if the government remains adamant about revising the 1999 Press Law. This may be done as a way to sink the claws in to regulations governing the publishing of printed media.
