TNIs Halfhearted Reform

The debate over the Military Justice Bill has ended in deadlock. The government wants military personnel who commit crimes to continue to be tried at military courts.

THE debate over the amendment to Law No. 31/1997 on Military Justice is temporarily on hold. The special committee discussing the bill said that talks had gone nowhere because the government and the House of Representatives (DPR) had been unable to reach a mutual understanding over some articles in the bill.
