Two BNI officials on trial for fraud were found innocent and released, although three police officers remain in jail over the 2004 BNI embezzlement case. This is a controversial decision that needs to be investigated.

THE verdict by the South Jakarta District Court in releasing two BNI bank officials in the Rp1.2 trillion embezzlement case seems discriminatory.
In 2004, when the embezzlement occurred, the police and BNI officials worked together in the case that ended with the suspect Adrian Waworuntu being jailed for life.
