IT is certain that independent candidates will not be able to run in the election for Jakarta Governor this year. Registration of candidates has been closed. Only two pairs of candidates have registered: Fauzi Bowo-Prijanto, and Adang Darajatun-Dani Anwar. The test of the Regional Government Law by the Constitutional Court has also been completed, despite the fact that many had hoped the test would open the way for non-party candidates to stand.
