The death sentence handed down to Gunawan Santosa is a legal finality. The Supreme Court has reinforced it. But executing condemned criminals in Indonesia is no easy task. People on death row must be given the opportunity for a case review and to appeal for presidential clemency. Only when these two last chances are rejected can the execution go ahead.
