WE have experienced many sad occasions when history and general knowledge books were burned in the past. But it seems our memories are too short to learn from the mistakes of the past. Prosecutors in Makassar, Bogor, Cibadak and Depok recently burned Indonesian history books in the front yards of their offices. In Semarang, the books were cut up. The message from this: differences of opinion are dangerous and must be turned into ashes.
