Officials who lose their jobs because of public pressure are not fit to be judges of the Constitutional Court. The President should be careful with his selection.

THE Constitutional Court needs capable persons with integrity to replace the four judges who are due to retire this year, including its chairman, Jimly Asshidiqie. Given the function of the Court as guardian of the Constitution, judges that sit on it must be free of political interests, be skilled in law and have good track records.
