ASEAN’s Test on Burma
ASEAN needs to take a clearer stance on helping disaster victims in Burma. The junta must be forced to open their doors to international assistance.

THE principle of non-interference in other members’ internal affairs is one of the strongly-held principles of the Association of South East Asian Nations. This tenet needs to be respected and maintained. But now is the time for ASEAN to do more than “mutually respect and not interfere in domestic affairs of other nations.”
