Powerless at Sea

The sinking of the Teratai Prima must be the starting point for putting sea transportation in order. All procedures need to be reviewed.

IF the government does not sort out problems involving sea transportation, the motto “at sea we are powerful” will have to be replaced by “at sea we are a disaster”. For a maritime nation, the way we handle shipping is shocking. The vessel Teratai Prima, with 250 passengers on board, sunk two weeks ago in the waters off Majene, West Sulawesi. So far only 35 passengers have been rescued, 14 have been found dead and the rest remain missing.
